Yes...I took out my wallet and paid money for this.
Brian cracked me up because when he saw it in the trunk of my car he asked sadly,
"So is this what we're doing now?" Ha!
Hunter green, burgundy, stencils, distressing...we've got it all.
It was $5.99 "FIRM," in case you were wondering. They couldn't let it go for a mere $4.99. Obviously!
This is how it looked with one coat of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint "Pure White."
...aaaaand with two coats.  My photography skills are lacking,
but believe me, it still looks bad.
Very bad.
The top is a damaged mess, which is only exacerbated by the two coats of white paint I added.
It looks like thick primer on top of a terrible paint job.
But...better. Right? Or am I kidding myself?

I'm weighing the options. 1) Throw it in the trash. Seriously.
2) Trick someone into buying it off of Craigslist for $30, MAX.
3) Use an ASCP Louis Blue "wash" and then finishing it off with a soft wax.

I'm leaning towards #3, but I'm seriously considering the other two. Thoughts?

you could sand it and spray paint it. spray paint will not look thick.

Thanks Zografia! I was hoping to avoid the sanding process, but I may not have a way around it...

I love the little table. I think you can make it work. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks Elizabeth! I love it too...I think. ;-)

I think it's adorable. You might want to strip off what's on top and just take it down to bare wood. Either chemically or by sanding. Then you might get a better paint job out of it. I love the legs! Definitely keep the little thing!

Jaye, I think that's what it might take. I've never removed paint chemically though, I wonder how that would work?

I think it is a cute little table! As much as I HATE sanding, I think I would sand, and then do option number 3 (and yes, I know the chalk paint's big draw is you don't have to sand.) But your little table needed some cosmetic help before you put on the make-up so to speak. Good luck (and your husband's comment was funny!)

Thanks Kelly...that's a great analogy about the skin before the makeup! Man, I seriously hate sanding. I'm so lazy {especially when we're talking about a $6 table!}

I think it's a great table...but unfortunately, I think with some {very unwanted} sanding, the table could be perfect! Otherwise, I'm sure someone will happily purchase it on CL. Good luck! :)

Thanks Gabbi! I actually just had an idea...maybe I'll purchase a marble tile (18x18) for the tabletop? The top is definitely the worst part.

Start with 3, then 2 and if all else fails 1. lol It does look so much better. Just an idea ... maybe if you caulk the seems that you can see with the white paint on and then do another coat it might look for 'solid' for lack of a better word. Either way ... I love this kind of stuff. You're going to make it awesome!! :)

Thank you, Karah...I totally get what you're saying about caulking the seams to make it "solid." Maybe that, plus a marble top, will save it from the trash heap. HA! ;-)

I hate sanding! So why not go with option #4! New top! Leave the paint on the sides and legs and screw 1x's on top. If you leave the previous top on you can screw up from below and not show any fasteners from the top. Then you can either paint or stain them! :) My fav easy-fix! :)

Your "trick someone into buying it off of Craigslist" idea really hits home for me - I was recently "tricked" into buying a teak table and chairs from Craigslist and ended up ditching it a week later :(

HA!!! I still haven't bought anything from CL. Selling only. ;-)

I'd strip it ......do a little sanding then repaint. Good as new!
Oddly I went through a refinishing EVERYTHING phase & stripped a bunch of stuff. Its not that bad. Actually fun to see the paint bubble up then just scrape off. :)

Tricia...REALLY? I've never tried that, but it does sound fun. What did you use?
