Can you even believe this is the best I could do for a “before” shot of our powder room?! That’s shameful, is what it is! But I think this photo probably gives you a pretty good idea of what was going on. I remember stripping this wallpaper like it was yesterday...ahhh, memories. Good times. The Lowdown: Walls: Cream wallpaper with red and navy stripes Floors: Faux-wood laminate Vanity: Large, dark wood vanity with cream sink {visible in the photo below} There was also a a soffit with a can downlight which hung over the sink. Look at that crowbar! We are hardcore. ;-) Well, Brian is. This is how it looked for over a year...down to the studs, folks {and not the good kind}. OOOF. Here are some after shots, and you know what? This is one of my favorite rooms in the house {yes, I know that's sad!} It was totally Brian's idea to do the vertical boards and the double crown molding...I have to admit, when he tried to explain it to me I didn't even understand what he was talking about, but I was SO READY for a bathroom on the main floor that I probably would have been OK with going back to striped wallpaper and stencils at that point! We still need to add the toilet paper holder and the towel rod,
plus some black & white sketches, but otherwise...that's a wrap! Project Summary Floors: Brazillian Cherry hardwood from K&K Floors Paint: Ralph Lauren Pale Gray Sink and Toilet: Lowe's {Kohler} Mirror and Lighting: Restoration Hardware Have a great weekend! :-)

Saw your gorgeous remodel over at Roeshel's. What an amazing transformation. Hard to believe it's the same room. The tall board and batten is fabulous! So glad to have "found" you. :)

Hi, thank you so much for stopping by De Tout, de Rien. I so appreciate all comments. Your master bedroom looks 100% better from the original! It really needed to be brought into this millenium, lol! I think I would have been partial to keeping the built-ins too myself, as you can never have too much storage, but yes, it's all about the give and take sometimes. Your husband and you seem to make a good pair.

Looks great! We have a bathroom that looks similar and needs to be updates.

Hi Dee! We demoed the walls for a couple of reasons: 1) stripping the wallpaper did some damage; 2) we took out the soffit above the sink; 3) we took off the vanity; and 4) we had to reconfigure some of the plumbing because we went from a vanity to a pedestal sink. Also, my husband is a crazy perfectionist who loves demo work. ;-)

Could you give me the details of the size moulding you used? We are currently de-wallpapering our powder room and just perused home depot trying to figure it out... Which was less than pleasant!

Love this redo! Just showed it to a contractor here in SC and he said "oh, you have to take the base moulding and door casing off to do this" I have 5 1/2" base with a small lip on it, is the batten board thin? I think we might be able to attempt this ourselves. If you have a pic of what the trim looks like around the door, that would be wonderful. Any tips? Hoping you can respond back. Love your site.
